This week the Maui Police Department and Maui Crime Stoppers seek the public’s help in identifying people responsible for the kidnapping and attempted sexual assault of a woman in the Kahului industrial area.
On Sept. 7 between 8 and 9 p.m., a 20-year-old woman was struck in the back of her head several times by two men who then threw her into the back seat of a dark-colored sport utility vehicle. The men then drove the woman to a dirt road by some tall sugar cane, where they attempted to remove her clothing. The woman bit one of her abductors in the right cheek area, causing possible bite marks to his face, and was able to flee the area.
The men were described as possibly being “local Filipinos,” between 25 and 30 years old. The only description of the vehicle is a dark-colored sport utility vehicle.
Anyone with information concerning the identity or whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call Maui Crime Stoppers at 242-6966 or toll-free at (888) 242-6966. Callers remain anonymous and are given a code number.
Maui Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of people responsible for felony crimes, the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs in felony cases or the capture of felony fugitives.
Consider all wanted people as dangerous. Do not approach, follow or take other action that could put one in danger.
