Filmmaker tells students to pursue what they love
FIRST PHOTO: Destin Daniel Cretton, a native of Haiku and member of Maui High School’s Class of 1996, returned to the school Friday morning to speak to about 40 digital media students before his award-winning film, “Short Term 12,” opened at the Kaahumanu 6 Theaters.
SECOND PHOTO: Cretton answered questions about the film and filmmaking in general. “What I’ve learned up until this point: Regardless of what you want to do in life . . . I don’t think your number one motivation should be to make money,” he said. “You should pursue what you love . . . because nobody can take what you love.”
