Man arrested for allegedly threatening to bomb ferry

Lahaina police arrested a 48-year-old man who threatened to “blow this boat up” and threw another passenger’s belongings overboard while aboard the Expeditions ferry as it headed from Lanai to Lahaina on Tuesday morning, police said.

Kevin S. Page, who gave no local address, was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct and third-degree theft. He was being held in lieu of $7,000 bail Wednesday morning.

Page was a passenger on the ferry at 8:10 a.m. when he began arguing with other passengers and swearing and yelling, police said. He was approached by crew members, who told Page to sit down.

Page was sitting on the top deck of the ferry when a woman sitting near him heard him say, “I’ll blow this boat up” before walking away, leaving his backpack next to the woman, police said.

Police said the woman was concerned about the safety of those aboard and reported what Page said to crew members, who confronted him downstairs. Page again became disorderly, police said, and threw two hand trucks belonging to a passenger overboard.

Crew members checked Page’s backpack, finding nothing suspicious inside, police said.

Crew members escorted Page to the back of the boat and had him remain there until the ferry docked in Lahaina, where he was arrested by police.
