2 accused of leaving store with goods they didn’t buy

Two people were arrested Tuesday after they were seen walking out of a Kahului store with merchandise they hadn’t paid for, police said.

Shayne Wakayama, 34, of Kahului and Sheron Vea, 26, of Waiehu were each charged with second-degree theft. Bail was set at $1,000 each.

They were arrested after Walmart loss prevention officers saw the two loading a cart with merchandise and walking past staffed cash registers to leave the store through its garden section, police said.

The cart contained $537 in merchandise, police said.
