Beach Boys coming to MACC

The Beach Boys will entertain fans next month with a “Surfin’ Safari” concert Jan. 10 at the A&B Amphitheater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, according to an announcement.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for MACC members and Dec. 21, also at 10 a.m., for the general public. Ticket prices range from $45 to $85 (plus applicable fees), with a limited number of $125 tickets for reserved and table seating.

“The Beach Boys made the music that is known world-round as the favorite ‘soundtrack to summer,’ ” the announcement says. “From humble roots in Southern California in 1962, The Beach Boys became a beloved American institution and an international sensation.”

The group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is the recipient of a Grammy lifetime achievement award.

The band’s hits include “Surfin’,” “Surfin’ Safari,” “Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Little Deuce Coupe” and “Kokomo.”

The band is still led by founding member Mike Love and 40-plus-year band member Bruce Johnston. Other members of the band include Christian Love, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten.

The band last performed on Maui in February 2010.
