Panel will hear concerns about paratransit service
The Maui County Council’s Housing, Human Services and Transportation Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday to consider the effectiveness of existing bus routes and schedules, equipment needs, funding requirements and other concerns related to paratransit services.
In 2013, Maui Economic Opportunity was awarded a five-year, $2.5 million contract to provide transportation for 756 paratransit clients, according to a news release from the Office of Council Services. The county had previously provided the service through Roberts Hawaii.
Residents have voiced concerns regarding the current service.
The meeting agenda is posted online at www.mauicounty.gov/committees/hht.
Testimony will be accepted in Council Chambers and at council district offices in Hana and on Lanai and Molokai. Written testimony may be submitted via email to email@example.com.
