Cemetery work nearing finish
First Photo: Soni Faha of T&S Kafoa Mason Contractors sets a stone while helping to build Maui Memorial Park’s retaining wall on Feb. 12. The 150-foot-long, 20-foot-tall wall collapsed Dec. 28, 2012, and the debris forced the closure of Waiinu Road. The project, which appears nearly completed, cost about $250,000, cemetery officials said in the fall. Also on the job was supervisor Liua Oto. T&S Kafoa Mason Contractors also has done stonework for Maui Memorial Park’s new cemetery development, Maui View.
Second Photo: This photo of the construction project was taken Feb. 12. The approximately $3.5 million project, located across from Maui Memorial Park, will include 880 marble-and-glass niches, 300 lawn crypts and 119 standard gravesites on the 4-acre property. Cemetery officials said in the fall that the project was expected to be completed in May.
