Kahului man facing charges in fraud, theft

Bail was set at $12,000 for a Kahului man who was arrested for using a stolen credit card at a Kihei grocery store, police said.

The credit card was among property that was reported stolen from a Palms at Wailea condominium unit at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 30 after the occupant had returned from the beach. Shortly afterward, the credit card was used to make charges at several businesses in Kihei and Kahului.

Police identified Mitchell Brennan, 26, as a suspect in the case.

He was arrested Saturday after being located by Wailuku patrol officers. After being interviewed by a Kihei Criminal Investigation Division detective, Brennan admitted using the stolen credit card at the Kihei Safeway store, police said.

He was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and third-degree theft.

Another suspect is being sought in the investigation, police said.
