Deadline extended for wishes

Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center said that it has extended to Thursday its deadline to receive wishes to Carly “Charli” Scott and her unborn son, Joshua, which will be part of a memorial for them Sunday.

Scott, 27, of Makawao, who at the time was five months pregnant, was last seen at her sister’s residence in Haiku around 8 p.m. Feb. 9. Earlier this month, police reclassified the case from a missing person to a homicide investigation.

Letters collected by the Hui will be used to make two papier-mache unicorns, which will be burned in a ceremonial canoe set out to sea Sunday. The letters may be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Hui, 2841 Baldwin Ave.

The memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Baldwin Beach in Paia. It is a potluck, although the family will be providing some food and drinks.
