DOT to collect feedback April 2

A state Department of Transportation meeting to get public feedback on a draft of statewide and regional federal aid highways transportation plans will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 2 at the Cameron Center in Wailuku.

The draft plans look out to the year 2035 and include the districts of Maui, Hawaii and Kauai.

“This is Hawaii’s first statewide, long-range multimodal land transportation plan that will support each district as they change in population, development and travel needs,” an announcement said.

Transportation Department Director Glenn Okimoto said that community involvement is a key element in the development of the plans.

“We believe in effective community involvement to plan for Hawaii’s future land transportation, and we will continue to move forward working with the citizens of Hawaii,” he said.
