High-surf warning issued

A high-surf warning has been posted for north- and west-facing shores of Molokai and north-facing shores of Maui from 6 a.m. today to 6 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu said a strong low pressure system northwest of the Hawaiian Islands has generated a large west-northwest swell, which will produce large surf from 25 to 35 feet by midday today and lasting through Sunday night.

This will result in dangerous swimming conditions and deadly rip currents.
