Information sought in Kihei assault
This week the Maui Police Department and Maui Crime Stoppers seek the public’s help in identifying those responsible for the assault of a man in the area of Kalama Park on Saturday.
On Saturday at about 9:40 p.m., a Kihei patrol officer was flagged down at Kalama Park in Kihei and advised of a fight in the park where a man had been very badly beaten and was in need of assistance. The officer located a 44-year-old man near a pavilion by the skate rink, unconscious and suffering from multiple injuries. The man was transported by ambulance to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he remained hospitalized Wednesday and was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information concerning the identities of those responsible is asked to call Maui Crime Stoppers at 242-6966. Neighbor Island residents can call toll free at (888) 242-6966. Callers remain anonymous and are given a code number.
Maui Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of people responsible for felony crimes; the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs in felony cases; or the capture of felony fugitives.
Consider all wanted people as dangerous. Do not approach, follow or take other action that could put one in danger.
