Jellyfish sting four Molokini snorkelers

Jellyfish stung four people snorkeling near Molokini on Tuesday, and the U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated the victims, officials said.

Coast Guard officials on Maui received a call from a charter vessel operator reporting that an adult and three children had been stung at the popular visitor destination in waters off South Maui, the Coast Guard said.

A crew aboard a 25-foot boat responded to the scene from Coast Guard Station Maui. The crew arrived at the scene at 10:10 a.m., took the victims aboard and transported them to the Kihei Boat Ramp, where an ambulance crew was waiting, officials said.

The adult was in shock, and the three children sustained minor injuries, the Coast Guard said.
