Raising money for fighting crime
FIRST PHOTO: Willie K performs at a fundraiser for Maui Crime Stoppers earlier this month at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. The Maui native artist also was presented a $1,000 check from the program to give to the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii. The group has helped solve 544 crimes and has paid out $43,825 to anonymous tipsters, according to Maui Crime Stoppers Inc. President Brian Klaschka. The group also has helped recover $1.7 million in stolen property and narcotics, he said.
SECOND PHOTO: The fundraiser drew 260 people to the event. “We raised over $14,000 in ticket sales, and that’s not including the silent auction,” board member Diana Devlin said.
