Two MPD officers rise to lieutenant

Scott Migita and Ryan Rodrigues have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant in the Maui Police Department.

Migita began his Maui police career in April 1992. He was assigned to the Wailuku, Lanai and Lahaina patrol divisions, serving as a bike patrol officer in Lahaina. He transferred to the Vice Division, Narcotics Unit in 2006, was promoted to sergeant and assigned to be administrative sergeant in the Wailuku Patrol Division.

In 2007, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division, working as a property crimes detective and Domestic Violence Unit sergeant. He and his wife, Dawn, have two daughters, Kayce and Torie.

Rodrigues began his police career in July 1990. He was assigned to the Wailuku Patrol Division, where he worked with the Crime Reduction Unit, as a field training officer and as a community police officer. In 2001, he transferred to the Plans, Training and Research Section and worked as an assistant recruit class coordinator.

Rodrigues was promoted to sergeant in 2009 and assigned to the Lanai Patrol Division for a year, then to the Wailuku Patrol Division as administrative sergeant. In 2010, he transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division as a detective. In 2012, he was transferred to the Internal Affairs Section.

Rodrigues and his wife, Dannette, have three children, Ryllah-Rae, Rory and Raven-Lee, and three grandchildren, Roah, Liam and Alika.

The promotions take effect April 16.
