Man arrested in assault

A 29-year-old Kihei man was arrested in the investigation of an assault that left another man with a broken jaw this month at Kihei Kalama Village, police said.

The assault occurred at about 12:50 a.m. May 10 after two men got into an argument at the South Shore Tiki Lounge in the complex on South Kihei Road, police said. The victim reported feeling unsafe and left the bar with his cousin. The two were in the parking lot when the victim was punched on the right side of his jaw, which was broken, police said.

The victim reported the incident May 22 and identified the suspect, police said.

After Kihei patrol officer Aaron Souza arrested the suspect Wednesday, he was interviewed by Kihei Criminal Investigation Division detectives and released pending further investigation.
