Vacant church still standing in original location

According to the Historic Hawaii Foundation website, the church was built in 1910 and was one of Maui’s first Japanese Christian Churches. The church has been vacant for nearly two decades. The website said, in 2007, landowner Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. was looking to give the church away to someone who would move it to make room for a proposed ethanol plant, but the estimated moving costs were prohibitive, $500,000.
