Need doesn’t go away with holiday
Dwayne Pacheco rings a bell for the Salvation Army on Wednesday in front of the Longs Drug Store at the Maui Mall. The out-of-season appearance of the red kettles at Wal-Mart and the Longs Drugs store in Kahului was part of a special fundraising effort for “Leon Day” (Noel spelled backwards). “It’s about six months until Christmas, and Leon Day (Noel spelled backward) is to remind Hawaii that there is a need for funds throughout the year to assist our local communities and families,” Maj. John Chamness of The Salvation Army said in a statement. To make a donation, go to salvationarmyhawaii.org.
