This has been a test — of rescue capabilities
(First photo) Personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, the Maui Fire Department and American Medical Response offload a training dummy from the snorkel cruise boat Seafire on Friday morning during an inter-agency training exercise off the shores of Kihei.
In the training scenario, the recovery of a near-drowning victim triggers a search-and-rescue operation for another snorkeler, who is missing and presumed lost. Also involved in the exercise designed to review and to improve cooperation and communication between agencies, practice unified command, evaluate interagency briefing coordination and improve interagency resource and protocol familiarity were Maui ocean safety officers.
