Kihei man, 26, arrested and charged in threatening case

A Kihei man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly threatened his roommate with a machete and knife, police said.

Stacy Hardoby, 26, was charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening and criminal property damage. His bail was set at $2,200, police said.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a girl called police about two men in an altercation, police said. Police found Hardoby threatening his roommate inside their residence on South Kihei Road with the machete and knife.

Hardoby was ordered to drop the weapons, and he responded by yelling at police officers, telling them he would kill anyone who came inside the house, police said. Eventually, Hardoby dropped the weapons and stepped outside the house where he was arrested.
