Suspects arrested in multiple break-in attempts in Lahaina

Three men were arrested early Friday after they twice tried to break into a store on Front Street in Lahaina, police said.

The burglary attempts occurred between 2 and 3 a.m. at the Quiksilver store at 851 Front St.

Lahaina patrol officers who responded to store alarms talked to witnesses and got descriptions of the suspects. After following up on leads, officers tied the three suspects to the crimes, police said.

Sebastian Mehew, 21, and Jonathan Totino, 30, who both gave no local address, were charged with two counts each of second-degree burglary. Totino was released after posting $2,000 bail, while Mehew remained in custody Monday on $2,000 bail. A third suspect, a 19-year-old Lahaina man, was released pending further investigation.

Police said the suspects went to the store and left before returning again and trying to break in.
