Free pancakes to be given out Saturday

The Friends of Joe Blackburn for Maui County Council will be offering free pancakes to go Saturday at the corner of Market and Vineyard streets in Wailuku.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and goes until “pau,” according to an announcement.

Blackburn is a candidate for the Maui County Council’s Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu residency seat.

Clinton to open campaign headquarters in Wailuku

Hillary Clinton’s campaign is opening a Maui office at 5:30 p.m. today in Wailuku.

The office, located at 1942 Main St., will be the Democratic candidate’s second in the state.

Clinton is running in the upcoming Presidential Preference Poll on March 26. In related news, the Hawaii Democratic Women’s Caucus endorsed Clinton for president on Tuesday.

Ing to hold South Maui event to kick off re-election bid

State Rep. Kaniela Ing will hold a “South Maui Celebration!” event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 8 at Nalu’s South Shore Grill in the Azeka Makai Shopping Center.

The event will celebrate the accomplishments of Ing’s first two terms in office and kick off his re-election campaign, according to an announcement. Food and music will be provided.

Ing, a Democrat, holds the District 11 (South Maui) seat in the state House.

Tegarden to open Kihei campaign office

Deidre Tegarden, a candidate for the state House, will hold an official campaign headquarters opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Azeka Makai Center, above Flowers by Cora.

There will be music by Gene Argel, pupu and a chance to meet the candidate. Tegarden is running for the District 11 South Maui seat, currently held by Rep. Kaniela Ing.


Celtic music, Wonder Girls join Regan

The Glen Innes Session Band and its Celtic music and the Maui Wonder Girls will headline the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration with Keith Regan on Thursday at the Maui Beach Hotel.

The event is a benefit for Regan, who is running for the Wailuku residency seat on the County Council. No-host cocktails are at 5:30 p.m. and dinner follows at 6. There will be a silent auction and door prizes presented to the most festively dressed for St. Patrick’s Day.
