Volunteers string lei for veterans’ graves
FIRST PHOTO: Volunteer Ron Kono hangs finished lei Friday during the annual “Blossoms for the Brave” community lei-making event on the front lawn of the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku. The goal was to make 2,700 lei to be placed on veterans’ graves Memorial Day at the Maui Veterans Cemetery in Makawao. Kevin Kanemoto & Friends provided music. Kathy Collins served as mistress of ceremonies. The event was sponsored by Kaunoa Senior Services, the Department of Housing and Human Concerns and the office of Mayor Alan Arakawa.
