That’s a wrap on Maui film set
Producer and actor Stefan Schaefer shares a scene with Ryan Ursua during filming Thursday afternoon in Waiehu for the locally produced feature film “Kuleana.” Thursday’s filming wrapped up 14 days of shooting on Maui. Director Brian Kohne said the final scenes were scheduled to be shot today on the Big Island.

Kohne, who graduated from Baldwin High School in 1982, said “Kuleana” will go through the editing process through October and is scheduled for release to Mainland film festivals in 2017. As he neared the end of a whirlwind two-week production schedule, he said there were many different emotions. “It’s exhilarating, exhausting, exciting and fortunately everybody is still talking to me,” Kohne said. Asked if wind or rain added any complications, he said, “Maui gave us what she wanted us to have. We just went with it, and we couldn’t be happier with how things turned out. My cast and crew rose to the challenge, met and exceeded all expectations.”
