‘The Songs of C&K’ set for April 8

“The Songs of C&K,” featuring Henry Kapono and fellow musicians in a salute to the music of Cecilio & Kapono, will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 8 in the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

This all-C&K music concert will also feature Henry’s special guest musicians Johnny Valentine, Alx Kawakami (of Manoa DNA) and the 2016 Most Promising Artist Na Hoku Hanohano award winner Blayne Asing, according to an announcement from the MACC.

Ticket prices are $15, $35, $45 and $55 plus applicable fees. Discounts are available for MACC members. Tickets can be purchased at the in person at the MACC Box Office, by phone at 242-7469 or online at


Summer Fun Guide submissions sought

The Maui News will be publishing a Summer Fun Guide of activities for children and teens on April 9.

To have an activity included in the guide, submit the following information:

• Name of program and for what ages.

• Sponsoring organization or business.

• Program times and dates.

• Location of the program.

• Description of program.

• Cost of the program.

• Contact information.

The deadline to submit information is noon March 31. Year-round programs will not be accepted for the guide.

Training to delay pool openings

Several Maui County pools will have late openings April 18 to allow for safety training for staff members.

The Sakamoto, Shiraishi, Kokua and New Wailuku pools will open at 2 p.m. The Upcountry pool and the Kihei and Lahaina aquatic centers will open at 2:30 p.m.

Pools also will open late May 16 due to staff training.
