SECOND PHOTO: Maui Police Department Chief Tivoli Faaumu shakes hands with Fire Chief Jeff Murray before Friday night’s annual Battle of the Badges flag football game between the two departments at War Memorial Stadium. All proceeds from the game were donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Maui, which serves more than 9,000 youth in the county annually through after-school and summer programs. Mayor Alan Arakawa called the game a positive cause for the community but would not pick sides on who would win. “I’m rooting for an injury-free game. We don’t want anybody on workers’ comp and this is not one of those things that qualify for that,” he joked.
