Napilihau roadwork to begin June 5

Slurry seal and restriping of Napilihau Street in Napili will begin June 5 and create lane closures and detours, the county the Department of Public Works Highways Division Pavement Preservation Section has announced.

The project is expected to be completed by June 16, and motorists are asked to follow all traffic control signs and flag personnel.

During work hours, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday weather permitting, traffic will flow in one direction on Napilihau Street makai toward Lower Honoapiilani Road. Traffic coming from Lower Honoapiilani Road will not be allowed to turn onto Napilihau Street from either direction.

As the project moves along Napilihau Street, access to homes in the subdivision will alternate between Hanawai and Kohi streets.

Access to Napili Plaza will alternate between the entrances on Napilihau and Hanawai streets. Residents at Napili Villas and Napili Villages will need to use the alternate entrance and exit on Honoapiilani Highway, the department said.

The right-hand turn lane from Honoapiilani Highway onto Napilihau Street from the Kapalua direction is expected to be closed June 7 and 8.
