A cool treat

Ari Satomba, 4, of Kahului enjoys a cup of shave ice with her father, Jeff, during some “rare time off” together Thursday afternoon outside Ululani’s at the Maui Lani Center. The Satombas just welcomed another daughter, and his wife graciously let the two take a break and share a treat together. “She (Ari) kept bugging me to get out of the house,” the father said smiling. “She kept saying, ‘Daddy I want shave ice,’ I was like, ‘OK, OK.’ “ Elise Rodriguez, 13, of Wailuku enjoys a shave ice and time with her father, Chad Sumida. National Weather Service forecasters predict today’s high temperatures will range from 84 to 89 degrees, with overnight lows from 69 to 74. Winds should blow out of the east from 10 to 15 mph. Skies should be partly cloudy with isolated showers in the morning, partly sunny with scattered showers in the afternoon and clearing at night.
