Reservations now open for affordable housing summit

Reservations are being accepted for the 2017 Maui County Affordable Housing Summit, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 30 at the Maui Beach Hotel.

The keynote speaker will be Rick Jacobus, principal at Street Level Advisors in Oakland, Calif. Jacobus has more than 20 years of experience working with cities, nonprofits and philanthropy to craft new solutions to some of society’s hardest problems, according to an announcement from the Maui Chamber of Commerce. He serves as a consultant and strategic adviser to a national initiative focused on building more inclusive communities.

Other speakers will address topics including “Where Is The Affordable Housing?,” “What Are The Economic Realities of Affordable Housing?,” “If We Build It, Can They Buy It?,” “Where IZ The Sweet Spot?,” “What Tools Are Needed?” and “How Do We Fast Track Affordable Housing?”

The deadline to reserve a spot is Tuesday. The cost to attend the summit is $65. A discount is available for those who register by today. To register, go to and click on the “Affordable Housing Summit” link.

Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m., and tickets include continental breakfast and lunch.

The summit is co-hosted by the Maui Chamber of Commerce and the Maui County Department of Housing & Human Concerns.
