Second photo: Members of the Maui Police Department’s 85th Recruit Class reaffirm their oaths at the end of Wednesday’s graduation ceremony at the King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapu. The class of 13 graduates was led by Outstanding Recruit Award winner, class president and Sensei Shinichi Suzuki Arrest Defense Tactics Award winner Asti Merino. Keith Kircher won the Scholastic Achievement Award. Kauanoe Mossman won the Best Notebook Award, and Mousa Kawas won the the M. Cecil “Rusty” Dickson Award for Physical Fitness and the Neil T. Endo Firearms Award. Wednesday’s keynote speaker was retired Circuit Court Judge Boyd Mossman.
