Affordable housing development plans opening
After beginning construction in March, Alexander & Baldwin’s Kamalani affordable home development will hold a grand opening Sunday of its onsite sales center and model homes, according to an announcement.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The entrance to the residential project can be reached from Kaiwahine Street in north Kihei.
Two model homes will be available for viewing: a two-bedroom, two-bath upstairs flat, and a three-bedroom, two-bath, ground-level flat.
Construction of the project’s first units — earlier announced as 170 affordable condominium and townhouse units — is nearly complete, the announcement says. Home closings are expected to begin early next month and continue thereafter.
So far, more than 60 condo units are under contract.
“We’ve had a steady stream of interest from prospective customers, and have been signing contracts pretty much every week,” said Jordan Smith, a Realtor at KW Island Living, the project broker. “With prices starting in the low $300,000s for a brand-new condominium flat that includes amenities like all major appliances and private fenced yards for every home, Kamalani is an attractive choice for interested homebuyers.”
Each condominium home in Kamalani includes steel-frame construction, two parking spaces, high-speed internet and energy-saving features such as gas energy.
Beginning Sunday, the sales center will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
