Bail set at $13,000 for robbery, assault
Bail was set at $13,000 for a man who was arrested after pushing another man while leaving with his belongings from a Kihei residence last week, police said.
Sai Perez, 37, was charged with second-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, third-degree theft, third-degree assault and two counts of violating an order for protection.
Perez entered the residence on Aliilani Place at 3:05 p.m. Thursday and took a black waist pack and phone from a table, according to a declaration filed in court to support his arrest. When Perez tried to leave, a resident blocked the doorway and asked for his items. Perez pushed the man, who fell to the ground, police said.
Perez took the other man’s belongings and ran across the street, where police contacted Perez, police said.
A court order for protection, granted on July 12, prohibits Perez from going to the residence, where his mother lives, police said.
