Crews extinguish grass fire on Molokai
Firefighters extinguished a one-acre grass fire that broke out Saturday afternoon off Farrington Avenue in Kualapuu on Molokai, according to a fire official.
The fire started at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto said. Firefighters from Hoolehua were on the scene at 3:46 p.m. and found an acre of grass burning about 150 yards off the roadway. Crews brought the fire under control at 4:13 p.m. and had it extinguished at 5:46 p.m. Saturday.
The cause of the fire was undetermined, Taomoto said. There were no injuries, and no structures were threatened.
An engine and water tanker from Kaunakakai also responded to the fire.
