A display of Okinawan lacquerware and other items (second photo) from the collection of Howard and Masayo Oshiro draws the attention of Kenjin Kai taiko drummers Anson Cabello (from foreground), 12, Che Ann Purdy, 12, and Masako Kaya, 11. The collection was part of a cultural display assembled for the annual Okinawan Festival. “It helps me learn about the past,” Kaya said. The celebration featured entertainment, games, food, a photo booth and crafts.
