Man killed in Saturday crash identified

The Toyota Camry driver who died in a four-vehicle collision in Kaanapali on Saturday night was identified by police as 70-year-old Jack Carreras of Lahaina.

He was among four people killed in the crash at 6:53 p.m. on Honoapiilani Highway near Kekaa Drive.

Carreras was driving a 2007 white Toyota Camry that was traveling north in the inner lane of the highway when it was struck head-on by a southbound 2003 Dodge pickup truck that crossed a painted median, police said. The Camry then collided with a black 2014 Dodge pickup truck traveling north in the outer lane, police said.

Then, a tan 2015 Toyota Sienna passenger van, also traveling north in the outer lane, hit the rear of the Camry, police said.

Two back-seat Camry passengers — 36-year-old Charles Whipple of San Mateo, Calif., and 36-year-old Danille McColloch of Galt, Calif. — died in the crash, police said. The 2003 Dodge pickup driver, 52-year-old Raymundo Hernandez-Ramirez of Lahaina, also was pronounced dead at the scene.
