Business still using ‘Grandma’s special recipes’
Grandma’s Coffee House baker Cheryl Fernandez places one of the layers of a triple-layer pumpkin-pecan-caramel cake into the oven in Keokea. She also was baking pumpkin pie, banana-strawberry bread and lemon bars Oct. 27.
SECOND PHOTO: She said that the family business she works for draws on the wisdom of Grandma herself, Minnie Franco, who began roasting coffee beans and baking in Makawao back in the early 1900s. “A lot of the recipes we use are Grandma’s special recipes,” Fernandez said. “A lot of people really like it. We’ve been proudly serving Upcountry for more than 30 years.”
