Calif. man pulled from ocean
A 66-year-old California man found floating facedown in the water fronting the Sands of Kahana on Tuesday afternoon was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition, a fire official said.
The man was snorkeling with family members and was found floating facedown about 10 feet from shore, said Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto. Bystanders pulled him to shore and began CPR.
Police were first on the scene at 2:39 p.m. and took over CPR. Firefighters from Lahaina and Napili and paramedics from Napili arrived a short time later and continued CPR, he said.
