Haiku association to meet Thursday

Haiku Community Association is asking residents to share their ideas from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Haiku Community Center for actions needed in the area.

According to a news release, small groups will discuss Haiku’s needs in three broad “Action Areas” that have been covered in past meetings: repairs/upgrades to public roads and facilities; protection of natural and cultural resources; and having more say in future developments.

Top action items and possible solutions will be forwarded to the Maui County Council for the 2018-19 budget process and state legislators.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Potluck pupu and beverages will be available.

The meeting also will include updates on local activities such as the Haiku Hoolaule’a and Flower Festival, Hamakua open space, the Kalakupua Playground and other association projects.
