Kihei keiki learn about Code Talkers

Young readers from the Kihei Youth Center, including Kawai Akimseu, 8, (from foreground, first photo), Andrei Guerrero, 8, and Lakia Golleher, 11, peruse books in the Holoholo Bookmobile on Tuesday afternoon in Kihei. The bookmobile was visiting the center on the same day as a presentation by the Daughters of the American Revolution about Native American Code Talkers in World War I and World War II and featured a display of books detailing the story of how the language of the Choctaw, Navajo and Comanche nations helped turn the tide for American forces. DAR regent Barbara Kenrich and Kihei Youth Center Executive Assistant Program Director Kahea Hue Sing Ferreira presented the program.
