State librarian visits Kahului Public Library

Hawaii State Librarian Stacey Aldrich helps Alia Kealoha check out a book Wednesday morning while staffing the front desk at Kahului Public Library. Aldrich said she has been putting time in at public libraries across the state. “We’ve been visiting the branches, working in them and working with staff, looking for ways to continue to improve our libraries and service,” she said. Kahului Public Library returned to normal hours Nov. 14 after dealing with air-conditioning issues. Hours had been slashed since late September.

Issac Bluth, 3, of Waikapu enjoys a book at Kahului Public Library on Wednesday. In the background is Joko Thompson, 1. Isaac’s mom, Emily Bluth, said that he loves the library. “It’s a big treat to come to the library,” she said.
