Calif. visitor who drowned identified
A California man who was pronounced dead Monday after being pulled from the ocean at Black Rock in Kaanapali was identified as 47-year-old Andreas K. Roesel of Moorpark, police said.
He had been snorkeling with two family members when he was seen waving and yelling for help about 50 feet off the point on Monday afternoon, officials said. Bystanders helped the man to the rocks and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts when he became unresponsive, officials said.
Two fire companies, a paramedic crew and police responded to the 12:46 p.m. call.
