Cookie company launches campaign

School Kine Cookies has launched a charitable giving campaign to support Kahului Elementary School after six classrooms were damaged in a suspicious fire Nov. 24.

The company is encouraging community partners who completed fundraising drives this fall to consider donating a portion of their proceeds to Kahului School. In turn, School Kine Cookies “commits to matching a portion of those cumulative donations, as well as soliciting support from its local business community.”

School Kine Cookies’ recipe emerged from the cafeteria of the state school system decades ago. Since then schools, including Kahului Elementary, have been selling the cookies as fundraisers, according to a news release.

Donations should be made payable to Kahului Elementary PTSA, c/o School Kine Cookies, 96-1173 Waihona St., Unit B3, Pearl City 96782.

Because of the fire, classes for students were canceled and are expected to resume today.
