Holiday party to benefit Maui Food Bank

Elite Pacific Properties and Elite Lending have partnered to host a holiday celebration benefiting the Maui Food Bank from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

The event will be held at Wailea Pualani, 3171 S. Noho Loihi Way. There will be a light brunch and mimosas, as well as snacks and drinks for the children. Santa will be there.

The event is free and open to the public and no donation is necessary.

For every person who attends the party, the organizers will donate one meal to the Maui Food Bank. The goal is to feed 100 hungry Maui families this holiday season.

Falling tree caused Molokai power outage

Nearly 1,500 customers on Molokai’s East End went without electricity for nearly three hours late Friday night and early Saturday morning, according to Maui Electric Co. spokeswoman Shayna Decker.

A tree fell on power lines along Kamehameha V Highway at 9:30 p.m. Friday, she said. All 1,460 customers had electricity restored by 12:20 a.m. Saturday.
