Falling frond zaps power in Lahaina
Around 1,500 customers in parts of Lahaina lost power at 10 p.m. Wednesday after a palm frond fell on power lines along Honoapiilani Highway near Kenui Street.
Power was restored to all customers by 10:41 p.m., said Maui Electric spokeswoman Shayna Decker.
On Saturday, about 60 customers, including the Kahului Safeway store, were left without power for more than three hours after a power line broke at 6:06 a.m. along Hana Highway between East Kamehameha and East Wakea avenues. All customers had power restored by 9:43 a.m., Decker said.
