Flash-flood watch issued for Maui County
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flash-flood watch for Maui County from tonight through late Tuesday.
A flash-flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.
A slow-moving cold front will move down the island chain today through Wednesday, according to the weather service. Abundant moisture ahead of the front will lead to the development of heavy showers and thunderstorms. Excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding of streams and low-lying areas.
Residents and visitors are urged to monitor the forecast and reminded that it does not have to be raining in a location for flash flooding to occur.
