Paving work causing bus, traffic disruptions
The Maui News – Two Maui Bus stops along the Wailuku loop and reverse loop routes will be out of service because of road resurfacing along High Street in Wailuku, the county Department of Transportation announced.
The affected bus stops are: the State Building stop for both of the Wailuku loop routes and the Lahaina Islander route (Queen Ka’ahumanu Center bound); and the Kehalani/Kamole Street stop for the Wailuku loop routes.
The bus stops will be in service before and after roadwork hours and on nonworking days, including weekends and holidays.
The roadwork will be ongoing from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from Tuesday through Jan. 5, the department reported.
In general, Wailuku bus riders can expect delays of an hour or more because of heavy traffic caused by detours from High Street to Waiale Road during paving work.
Riders can track their bus’s location in real time and get arrival time predictions by using the TransLoc Rider app available on iOS and Android or at mauibus.transloc.com.
