Bail set for man accused of attacking two people with a wrench
The Maui News – Bail was set at $10,000 for a Kahului man who was arrested for allegedly assaulting two people with a wrench when he went to a co-worker’s apartment Tuesday night.
Maika Oloaga, 33, is charged with two counts of second-degree assault.
According to police, Oloaga went to the co-worker’s apartment at Harbor Lights Condominium in Kahului shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday to confront the co-worker. A heated argument turned physical when Oloaga began punching and kicking the other man in his head, arm and legs, then struck him multiple times with a metal wrench, police said.
A woman was struck in the hand with the wrench when she tried to stop Oloaga from hitting the other man, police said. Oloaga slammed the woman against the wall when he turned to run out of the apartment, police said.
She suffered injuries including pain and swelling to the back of her head, left knee and right elbow.
The man suffered pain and lacerations to his forehead, left arm and shins, according to police.
Oloaga was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.
