Kapalua tourney gears up for golf pros

Golf commentator Mark Rolfing hands a hat back to Al McCabe of Huntington, Ind., after signing his autograph Tuesday afternoon at the Kapalua Plantation Course. Rolfing is a member of the Golf Channel team covering this week’s Sentry Tournament of Champions PGA golf tourney on the Plantation Course. Rolfing is a longtime Kapalua resident who has played a key role in promoting pro golf tournaments on Maui since 1982. Through the years, he has gone from staging and hosting the events to covering them on television. McCabe said it was an honor to get Rolfing’s autograph. “He’s been one of the best announcers,” McCabe said. “He knows a lot about it. It’s an honor to meet him. I think he is a quality individual.” Last year, Rolfing and his wife, Debi, were co-recipients of the PGA Distinguished Service Award.
