$20,000 to target underage drinking

The Maui County Liquor Commission has provided $20,000 to Maui Youth and Family Services Inc. for its underage drinking prevention program, according to an announcement.

The money was generated from fines assessed against licensees for violations of state liquor laws or commission rules, the announcement said.

The agency earned the funding through the merit of its presentation to the commission, the effectiveness of its prevention program and recommendations from organizations and agencies.
