Hearing set on Lanai design guidelines
Current standards have been in place for nearly 20 years
A community meeting to hear comment on the proposed design guidelines and standards for the Lanai City Country Town Business District will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the Lanai Senior Center.
Called by the Maui County Planning Department, the meeting will include discussion on the proposed design guidelines and a question-and-answer period.
The meeting is part of an effort to replace the existing design guidelines, which were adopted in 1997, the meeting notice said. The proposed document was introduced by County Council resolution in 2011, but the members deferred adopting the document pending the completion of the Lanai Community Plan update.
The council approved the plan update in July 2016, so the Planning Department is recirculating the proposed replacement document for review.
The Lanai Planning Commission also will have a public hearing at its regularly scheduled meeting at 5 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Lanai Senior Center.
